Alona Lebedieva: Three years of struggle that changed Ukraine and the world

Today marks three years since the day the Russian army, one of the largest in the world, launched a full-scale aggression against Ukraine with the aim of destroying us as a nation. But instead of fear, it encountered our resilience.

Ukraine has been at war on a full scale for three years. For three years, we stood shoulder to shoulder, defending not only our land, but our future, our freedom, our right to exist. What once seemed impossible has become a reality – we have endured. And not only because of the power of our weapons, but also because of our unity. Ukrainians have proven to the whole world: we cannot be broken.

Yes, these years have brought us pain, loss and trials. The war changed the economy, destroyed enterprises, disrupted markets and logistics. But we have not only survived – we continue to develop. We do not wait for better times – we create them. Ukrainian business is adapting, finding new opportunities and opening up new industries. Because we have no other choice but to move forward.

Our humanity during the war is especially striking. We support the army, rescue the wounded, help those who have lost their homes, take care of animals. Each of us is part of the great Ukrainian front, which stands on mutual support and incredible resilience.

And I especially want to note the role of Ukrainian women. The war destroyed all stereotypes. A Ukrainian woman is no longer just a guardian of the home. She is a soldier, a doctor, a volunteer, a diplomat, a leader. She takes responsibility, commands, makes decisions, takes risks, helps. I personally know many women who do the impossible on the front line, in headquarters, in the rear. Their contribution to victory is invaluable.

Ukraine stands not only thanks to its own strength, but also thanks to the support of partners. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported us with funds, weapons, humanitarian aid, or words of understanding and solidarity. Our path would have been much more difficult without this help.

As the owner of the Ukrainian industrial and investment group Aurum Group and the founder of a charitable foundation, I see every day how many joint volunteer initiatives are being implemented, including with the help of international partners. Together we implement projects that save lives, rebuild what has been destroyed, and give hope for a better future.

I believe that even despite the difficult conditions on the front and any pressure, including from our most powerful allies, Ukrainians will always remain courageous and brave. There are difficult battles ahead – both military and diplomatic. But I am sure: Ukrainians will not retreat. We will not allow our future to be erased.

Three years of full-scale war. Three years of resilience. We have proven to the world: Ukraine has survived and continues its path to peace.
